Hi everyone! How’s it going? I hope you’re all doing great.💝 Recently, we had the opportunity to work on an exciting project where we guided students on a virtual journey to explore the magical city of Paris using Augmented Reality (AR). This immersive experience allowed us to visit some of the city's most iconic landmarks without leaving the classroom. Together with my friends Selinnaz Duysak and Pelin Aybay, we introduced students to three incredible sites: the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre Museum.
Selinnaz focused on the Eiffel Tower, while Pelin presented the historical and architectural marvels of the famous Notre-Dame. I took on the Louvre Museum, home to masterpieces like the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo.
The real challenge was finding the right virtual resources. Some videos weren’t as detailed as we hoped, while others were difficult to access. Nonetheless, we pushed through, choosing immersive 3D models and 360° videos that allowed students to explore the landmarks in detail.
For each landmark, we created thought-provoking questions to guide their exploration. We asked students to think critically about what they saw.
At the end of the journey, students were asked to imagine that they had spent a day in Paris and write a postcard to a friend describing their experiences. This was a fun and creative way for them to reflect on what they had learned while practicing their writing skills.
This AR experience was a huge success. It not only helped students explore Paris in a unique way, but it also provided an engaging, interactive learning experience that made history and culture come alive!
